Outstanding among military publications is the U.S. Marine Corps Monograph Series covering World War II in the Pacific. These were designed to give the military student and the casual reader accurate and detailed accounts of the operations in which Marines participated during World War II. The history of the Army units which fought beside the Marines is covered to a lesser degree.
