The Air Service (later Air Corps then Air Forces) newsletter began publication in 1918.  The stated intention of the newsletter: "The chief purpose of this publication is to distribute information on aeronautics to the flying personnel in the Regular Army, the Reserve Corps, National Guard and others connected with aviation."  The Air Corps Newsletter became Air Force: the Official Service Journal of the US Army Air Forces in December 1942, and what we know now as Air Force Magazine.
