Название: Mussolini: A Study in Power Автор: Ivone Kirkpatrick Издательство: Hawthorn Books Год: 1964 Страниц: 757 Язык: English Формат: PDF OCR Размер: 20 MB Ivone Kirkpatrick is an eyewitness to the events leading up to and decline of Mussolini. He was assigned to the British Embassy in Rome and thereafter appointed as the High Commissioner to the British sector when Germany was divided into four military zones. His account is thorough, eye opener and riveting. In particular, he dwells on how Mussolini formulated the Italian Facist concept which was adopted by Hitler in his rise as a authoritarian. He debunks the myth that Mussolini made the trains run on time citing a witness to the event. He traces how Mussolini manipulated the press, created chaos, survived four assassinations, cowed the electorate, declared war on the Catholic Church, and co-existed with the King of Italy allowing the Facist to rise. He points to an event, a high level political killing, which he said Mussolini did not participate in but set the scene for the act; thus the tipping point to Mussolini political decline. One will not be disappointed considering the clouds of political division and impending climate of conflict that Mussolini tiptoe through allowing his persona, hubris to dictate his political outcome.
